La sequoia si \u00e8 tinta di un verde vigoroso, sale infinitamente, malgrado lo zoccolo duro delle radici. \u00c8 un\u2019opera d\u2019arte, non riesco a immaginarmi niente di pi\u00f9 vicino a un\u2019idea di libert\u00e0. Ma c\u2019\u00e8 dell\u2019altro in questo liberissimo vivente, una forma elementare di generosit\u00e0: il tronco si \u00e8 diviso in due fusti gemelli che si sorreggono a vicenda e, strutturati come unit\u00e0 complessa, vanno verso l\u2019alto. \u00c8 cos\u00ec, forse, vivere senza ricevere aiuto, non trovando che in s\u00e9 il punto di soccorso, in una ordinaria confidenza di torace schiena e gambe, e attingendo da una riserva di forza che insperatamente affiora dal sottosistema della latenza.
